The New York Jets kicked off training camp last week, and NFL fans got their first taste of Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform.
Unfortunately for Rodgers and Jets fans, some of these photos aren’t quite as flattering, especially one that’s gone viral because Rodgers “looks like he’s wearing a kid’s Aaron Rodgers Halloween costume.”
Most of the replies and quote tweets seemed to agree, with some people even appearing seriously or playfully concerned about his apparent weight loss.
Some jokes suggested that Rodgers’ recent personality and lifestyle updates might be responsible for his surprisingly gaunt look.
Luckily for Jets fans, if you want a better look at the Gang Green-colored Rodgers, the team has just officially unveiled the “Jets Legacy White” uniform, which pays homage to the 1980s New York Sack Exchange team.
The throwback kit, which features the Jets’ “Winged-J” logo, which was discontinued in 1997, will be worn in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills and in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Rodgers and the rest of the New York Jets will wear the aforementioned nostalgic jerseys to open the 2023 season at home on Sept. 11 in a Monday Night Football game against AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills.
Heading into the season, the Jets are in virtually uncharted territory as they are expected to contend for the Super Bowl despite not making the playoffs in over a decade.
While the Jets now own a prolonged postseason drought in the NFL (haven’t qualified for a spot since 2010), they’re currently one of seven favorites to win the Super Bowl this season, according to the Las Vegas odds.
Right now, only the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys have a better chance of winning the Lombardi Trophy than the Jets.
The Jets, which kicked off training camp in New Jersey last week, will open the season with a Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills on their 22nd anniversary on 9/11.
