TORONTO — Right-handed pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
He was selected by Toronto in the third round of this year’s Major League Baseball Draft.
The Blue Jays already signed 15 draft picks and three undrafted free agents.
Watts Brown was the last prospect to sign among Toronto’s first 10th-round draft picks.
Watts Brown, 21, went 6-5 with 5.03 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings in the NCAA at Oklahoma State University.
He’s playing for Long Beach State in 2022 and has a 10-9 record with a 4.39 ERA and 235 strikeouts in his college career in the United States.
The Blue Jays also announced that left-handed pitcher Genesis Cabrera will appear in Sunday’s game against the Mariners in Seattle.
Right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson has opted to join Toronto’s Triple-A affiliated franchise in Buffalo, New York.
The Blue Jays acquired Cabrera Friday in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Pearson allowed four runs in the seventh inning in Toronto’s 9-8 loss to the Mariners on Saturday.
