The second night of the 2023 Cincinnati Music Festival did not disappoint. Fans from near and far flocked to Peycoe Stadium on Friday for a star-studded line-up of Gerald Albright, Midnight Star, Jodeci, Jill Scott and headliner Al Green. Organizers say the three-day festival draws tens of thousands of visitors to Cincinnati and brings in an estimated $107 million annually. “We come to the Cincinnati Music Fest every year and we love it and enjoy it,” said Alison Lee. She traveled from Buffalo, New York with her friend Angela Taylor. The two have been attending the festival for at least ten years. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania natives Brent Clarke and Tiffany Clarke will be attending the festival for the first time. “We really love music. Having never been to Cincinnati before, we thought this would be a great opportunity to not just jam and show off some good dance moves, but also learn about the culture of the city,” said Tiffany Clarke. This year’s line-up had plenty of concert-goers looking forward to Friday and Saturday’s shows. “There’s Snoop Dogg, there’s Babyface. It’s going to be great to see them,” said first-time Kim Davis from Louisville, Kentucky. Roland Martin, a nationally renowned journalist and broadcaster, has been a longtime supporter of the festival, saying, “We’re here to air my show. Black Star Network, we’ll be here all weekend and of course we’re looking forward to the Walk of Fame. I’ve been talking to the Reese Commissioner over the last few years,” Martin said. “I can’t wait to see what my brothers Gerald Albright and Snoop do. I think it’s going to be a great weekend,” said Martin, acknowledging the festival’s history and success over the years. The third night of the music festival kicks off Saturday at 7:30pm with Norman Brown. Avery Sunshine will take the stage at 8:05pm, followed by P-Funk Connection at 9pm, Babyface at 10:10pm and Snoop Dogg on stage at 11:30pm for an hour long performance.

“It was the biggest festival that happened every year, and a lot of my friends from the Midwest, especially Chicago, call it the Essence Festival of the Midwest,” he said.
