CUBA — The Cuban Library will host three cultural events next week, from Monday’s “Sound Bath” to a bluegrass performance on July 22nd.
Experience a sound journey through the healing vibrations of Himalayan bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, drums, flutes and rattles at the library on Mondays at 6pm. The vibrations and rich overtones of these ancient and modern healing instruments harmonize the body, mind and spirit and restore natural energy balance.
Dr. Celine Daly is a musician, sound healer, and instructor at the Olean Meditation Center.
Please bring your own mat or other items of your choice (pillows, eye covers, blankets, etc.) for comfort while lying on the floor. We will provide chairs for those who wish to sit.
Free programs are open to ages 13 to adult and registration is required. To sign up, contact the Cuban Library at (585) 968-1668 or email cuba@stls.org.
This project was made possible by funding from the New York State Council for the Arts’ statewide community grant program.
Book talks by local authors
On Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., local author Sheri Fitzner will be at the library to discuss her book Worth Revisiting: A Pop Culture Guide to a Spiritual Awakening.
Her book is described as a guide to help you find inspiration in what’s at your fingertips. Readers “expect expansion and growth on a soul level, and expect to uncover the deeper meanings behind movies, comics, and music that can be associated with young people.”
Buffalo Bluegrass All Stars
The Buffalo Bluegrass All-Stars will perform at the Palmer Opera House on July 22nd at 6:30 pm, hosted by the Cuban Library.
The band’s bluegrass music has been described as “a show for real listeners, full of hot instrumentals and beautiful ballads”.
The free event includes donations by Richard Davis in memory of Mary Manco, donations by David Bosworth and Sylvia Bosworth in memory of Terry Swift, as well as donations by Virginia Mahon, Sandra Keough, Cataraugas Regional Community Foundation Connie & Sandy Ull. Funded by donations from the Finger Foundation.
