Beginning Thursday, June 1, all Explore Buffalo downtown tours will be free on Thursdays during the 2023 summer season, thanks to the generous support of Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation.
“Because of our ties to the City of Buffalo and the Central Business District, we partnered with Explore Buffalo to offer free tours of downtown in a natural fit,” said Chiminelli Real Estate President and CEO, CEO Paul Ciminelli said. “These tours provide a great opportunity to discover Buffalo’s rich history while contributing to the development of a vibrant downtown. We are thrilled to be partnering with a group that understands.”

A tour exploring downtown Buffalo focuses on the city’s unique architecture and history. Free downtown tours offered on Thursdays this summer include:
- Architectural Chronology: A chronological overview of the evolution of office building design from the mid-1800s to the present.
- Canalside: A walking tour of Buffalo’s waterfront, which was the western terminus of the Erie Canal when it opened in 1825.
- Downtown Deco: A tour showcasing buildings designed in popular architectural styles of the 1920s.
- Downtown Murals: A frequently changing tour showcasing recently painted murals downtown.
- Presidents of Buffalo: Visit or follow in the footsteps of presidents who lived in Buffalo.
A unique selection of complimentary downtown tours is offered every Thursday during the summer months. A monthly updated tour calendar is available at explorebuffalo.org. 2023 is his 10th anniversary tour season for Explore Buffalo, and in addition to the downtown tour, Explore Buffalo offers more than 80 of his tours through the history and architecture of the area.
