NEW YORK (WKBW) – The New York State Parks Police have announced the death of K9 Theo, who had to rest due to his rapidly declining health.
Police said Teo began training in August 2014 and continued with explosives detection training, which he received in October 2014.
Theo’s death was announced in a Facebook post, part of which read:
“From that day forward, K-9 Theo continued to serve as a trusted and loyal partner to Officer Michael Cali until his final days. They protected millions of visitors to New York State Parks and Historic Sites, Niagara Falls, Art Park concerts, Buffalo Bills games, and events across the state. K-9 Theo was frequently called upon by other police departments to help search for hidden firearms used in crimes.
