BUFFALO, NY — Ask Dawn Martin Berry Walker about the Puppy Martin Jazz Fest and you’ll get a smile and knowledge.
“My father started this festival. He started this when he went to the Million Man March and was ordered to go back to his community and do something to improve it,” Berry Walker said.
The event brings together internationally acclaimed musicians.
Her father passed away in 2015 and she continues his legacy in the community.
“We create a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The music is top notch. We want to keep this festival within the community and make it accessible to everyone in the community. We want children to understand that they don’t have to leave the community to get something beautiful, amazing and professional. That’s here,” she said.
The free festival is held on the lawn beside the Buffalo Museum of Science.
The festival resumes on Sunday, July 30th and runs from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.
