This weekend, one small business stood out in particular. We were at Shaffer Farms in Flemington for a music festival to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Our friend Al Stern organized the event and all proceeds went to charity. More than 1,000 New Jerseyans enjoyed a full day of food, music and entertainment. It sure was hot, but the rain stopped!
Joe, owner of Panatieri’s Pizza & Pasta in Flemington, was joined by his sister, son and niece. The family helped man the trailer and set out to serve up great pizza and Zeppole for the attendees.
Joe called the show on Monday to tell me that I had stopped by to see family and that he was very happy to organize a meet-and-greet at his brick-and-mortar store.
It’s important to support businesses in the communities where our families live. Small businesses are the backbone of New Jersey’s economy, employing more than 1.9 million New Jersey residents. As I tour New Jersey, I will continue to highlight and promote small businesses.
We look forward to seeing you on the trail. Check out my public schedule here.
