“Seekers of Light: Behold, an accumulation of souls. A life lived in turmoil and torrents. Thick mountain clouds formed by desires and attachments pile up, engulf their origins, and spread beyond the horizon. An overwhelming drive to create, lest it disappear, waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat with abstract yearnings, obsessively recording, preserving, protecting, and vague futures. The urge to project into.Screaming from the rooftops is what happened in my life. The people I loved, the things I suffered, the wonders I saw had meaning. They existed. Not just a blink of eternity, a speck in a gust of wind, not a tear in the rain: somewhere beyond the intellect lies a primordial, impulsive cry commanded, directed, and organized by desire. Contrary to logic, we record the light of past moments that no longer exist and will never exist again.
Self-portrait is an incomparable act of expressing vulnerability. It is an act of sifting through the pain of existence while at the same time reaching out to connect with people. Self-portrait is a conscious practice of existentialism. It can be compared to a literary work written in the first person. Through the act of self-portrait, one places oneself as both protagonist and antagonist in a well-crafted visual diary.
The concept of “control” is essential for self-portraits. We choose what to bring into the light and which aspects of ourselves to keep in shadow. Take control of space and capture the decisive moment. No other soul can anticipate your thoughts like you. There is no possibility of misunderstandings or conflicting views due to this superiority.
Photographers use personal signifiers within the realms of gender, culture, race, and myriad other formative categories to become expressive figures in their own images, driving and directing intellectual discourse. . We present what we want others to accept or confront. In the course of this quest, we seek enlightenment and truth. We consciously record and shape our inner and outer selves and meditate on purpose, community and our limited time on earth. ”
