Last Friday, Lancaster, NY resident Sean Nye claimed his second feature win of the year and overall title worth $2,500 at the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series event at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY.
Nye pulled back on the pole and used it to his advantage to win Game 2.
“We had a good car all night and worked hard,” said Nye. “Competing in this series has been great for him and we are just grateful to be here.”
Nye defeated Jake Lutz of Hamburg, NY and Eddie Hawkins of Marion, NY
Tyler Catalano of Ontario, NY and Chris Finocciario of Macedon, NY made the top five nightcaps.
Ontario, New York’s Trevor Catalano won the first 30-lap Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series of the night. Catalano, who started second, held off Finocciario and Nye to win. Trevor Catalano and Kevin Timmerman of Ontario, New York made the top five.
“We were very good,” said Catalano. “The car is going well.
Hawkins, Catalano and Nye won the qualifying race, with Mike Reety of Williamson, NY setting the fastest qualifying time on the green-white checkers.
Joe Mancuso of Buffalo, NY won the Race of Champions Superstock Series. Mancuso used his front-row starting position to take the lead and hold off Jacob Christman of Walnutport, Pennsylvania, to win.
“We had a great car tonight,” said Mancuso, the driver of the Mancuso Racing-prepared car from Victory Lane. “The people I surround myself with really deserve it.”
Mancuso and Christman were followed by Matt Druer of Clarence, NY; Tommy Barron of Ontario, NY; and Tim Gallo of Elmira, NY.
Mancuso and Druer split the qualifying race, with Druer setting the fastest overall time.
Alyssa Reety of Williamson, NY won the Race of Champions Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modified Series Action. In the feature, Reety held off Jenna Dietz of Holland, NY and Andrew Cook of West Henrietta, NY.
Russ Bulger Jr. of Buffalo, NY won the Wilbert U-Pull It 4-cylinder category, while Ashley Schoonmaker of Williamson, NY continued to win the Wilbert U-Pull It 6-cylinder category.

The next race in the Race of Champions Modified family of series takes place this Saturday night at Holland (NY) International Speedway, with runs of the Crossbeads 100 Race of Champions Modified, Street Stock and FOAR SCORE 4-Cylinder Dash Series and the finish of Wilbert’s 100 Four Champions Sportsman Modified Series.
