The list of small, family-owned distilleries in upstate New York continues to grow exponentially. There are now dozens of beer companies across the country, joining their ‘cousins’ craft breweries and cideries to make New York State a drink lover’s dream come true.
Upstate New York has some great distilleries (more than 30) in big cities and small rural towns and villages. This gallery features nine of his works that we consider outstanding, but which (due to space constraints) perfectly represent many others not listed here. Each one has a great story to tell, makes award-winning products, and sits in some of the most spectacular scenery in the area (wait until you see the Clayton distillery, wow!).
And check out the one in Cooperstown. For distillers, these are probably the best gifts they can bring back from this historic village. Check out our signature hand-blown bottles that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. When I was a kid, I used to collect baseball cards. I would love to collect these bottles again!
Many of these distilleries proudly use the unique upstate qualities in their distillation process, from logging the famous maple trees for their syrups to using the crystal clear, cold water of the St. Lawrence River to create their award-winning spirits.
There are so many distilleries to choose from that we can only mention a few here, but be sure to visit our Facebook page and tell us about your favorite distilleries. Go ahead and share it with non-readers! We look forward to hearing from you.
