We are still learning about the aftermath of Sunday’s deadly storm that caused flash floods and damage across the Hudson Valley. Reports of damage are still being received.
Major roads in Rockland and Orange County remained closed. Some have no signs of opening any time soon. No joke, photos flooded social media around the Hudson Valley. Many agencies provided information as it became available.
Bear Mountain and Harriman State Park closed until further notice New York State
We know roads are closed and flood damage repairs will take time, but you may not be thinking about other things that were affected by Sunday’s storm. I admit it flashed through my mind for a second when I saw the picture of the flooding from Bear Mountain, but I didn’t think about what happened at the Bear Mountain trailside museum and zoo until later. .

Recently, I wrote a story about a bear hanging out with vultures and catching a zoomy. That may be why I had the zoo in my head on Sunday. I looked at the Trailsides Facebook page to see if there was any news about the floods, but nothing has been posted as of the time of publishing this article.
Instead, I found the following message on the zoo’s website:
We hope to have more information in the near future so that we can share not only information about the damage but also how the public can help if needed. Also note that it’s not just museums and zoos that are closed, Bear Mountain State Park and Harriman State Park are also closed until further notice.
