The Newburgh Free Academy, located in Newburgh, New York, is the second-oldest high school in New York City and the tenth-oldest high school in the United States, according to a World Atlas report.
The school opened in Newburgh in 1796.
“The Newburgh Free Academy is a comprehensive high school that offers several elective opportunities. In addition to the New York State Legislative Diploma, many of these electives offer students the opportunity to take the New York State Licensure Examination. The NFA offers advanced placement and honors-level courses,” Newburgh School District said of the NFA.
