Say goodbye to the Buffalo Bisons team you know so well. Soon they will be called by another familiar Buffalo icon name.
How long do bison live in Buffalo?
The Buffalo Bisons are a team that has been around for over 100 years. In fact, it all started in 1886! However, the current team has been operating since 1979. They are a minor league baseball team here in Buffalo and have also been a farm team for many major league baseball teams over the last few years. They have served as farm teams for MLB teams such as the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, and now the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Bisons will soon have another name
The Buffalo Bisons will change their name from the Bisons to the Wings on July 29. Buffalo wings, of course, are a national icon, and the Bisons are using that to celebrate National Chicken Wing Day. They complete their transformation with all new uniforms including redesigned hats and jerseys. This year’s jersey features a “flat” design (or two ribs on the wings) instead of the drums seen previously.
This is the 2019 jersey.
